I'm a fairly experienced DIY mechanic, but I'm now a very senior senior citizen and thought I would let them do some service. In the beginning I had a service agent named Jacob take care of me who was very good. But he left and Tim took care of me. High pressure to do extra work and after I bought a new set of tires for my 2006 2500HD I had them align the tires. After 2-3 hours of telling harassing sales people to leave me alone, Tim tells me the problem is a worn idler arm and they are having to add shims to align it. Folks, you only use shims to adjust caster or camber in this truck not alignment. He tells me they have charged me for the alignment and it will need it again after they replace the idler arm, which will cost right at $1000. And also my shocks are leaking and they will cost $700.
I went on line and ordered a Moog idler arm for $115 and Bilsten shocks for less than $200. Both high quality parts. It took me an afternoon to install them. I'm old so I don't move fast.
I took the paperwork that included the readings of the Van alignment to a small alignment shop and told them I needed it aligned and I wanted to see what the numbers were for the current alignment. Also I said Van service told me they had to use shims to align the truck. The technician told me that was ridiculous. When he showed me the readings before he starts to align the truck they were almost identical to the reading Tim at Van showed me saying it needed to be aligned. In other words, they charged me for an alignment that was not done.
The next time I went in for service, I went to another service rep. I had an appointment for an oil change and tie rotation. Took over 3 hours and when I climbed into the truck one of my special lug nuts was laying in the console. One of the lug bolts had been misthreaded. Long story short, they wanted to charge me $400 to fix what they damaged. They fixed it in only 5 hours . Shortly having arriving home someone from Van called to ask how the service went and I unloaded on him. He said he would give me a $1000 off if I came down and bought a new truck. On the TV they were ads that they were giving $10,000 off the model I wanted. Found oil leaks under the truck. Will never go there again. Bought a few special tools and I am now changing my own fuel and oil filters.
