I was excited to try Diamond Market because I enjoy going to Market Square and was looking for another reason to go Downtown. We went on a weeknight and it was surprisingly busy. Almost every table was full and the restaurant had a mix of younger and older groups. We were seated immediately at a table in the bar area and I ordered chili as an appetizer with a Flying Dog Raging Bitch and my girlfriend ordered a milkshake.
I was served a beer in a pint glass and without realizing it was not the beer I ordered I started drinking it. I told the server and he took it away and brought the original beer I asked for. I would have preferred to keep both rather than throw away a good pint of beer but oh well. The chili was so-so but I wouldn't get it again. My girlfriend's milkshake, according to her, was "great."
She ordered the Knife and Forker ($9.95), pink. Your temperature choices are limited to "pink" or "no pink." The Knife and Forker is a burger with chili and cheese on top. I got the deviled eggs ($5.95) and the Engagement Grilled Cheese ($8.50).
I tried the deviled eggs and they were terrible. The dish wasn't just bland, it was actually bad. I ate one bite and promptly had the server take it away as well as take it off our bill. I thought deviled eggs were hard to mess up but apparently I was wrong.
The grilled cheese has cheddar, gruyere, and cambazola in it, but all were hard by the time it came to our table. It had obviously sat too long and the massive amount of cheese on it had hardened. It wasn't entirely inedible but it was a chore to get through it all.
My girlfriend was very happy with her burger. I did not try it so I cannot comment.
The service was good. Our server was attentive and extremely responsive to our needs.
I would much rather have competent food over good service though and therefore I will not be back.
