  • Came here on a Wednesday afternoon with my husband and baby. Only three other tables were occupied during our stay. First impression is that the place is very clean and spacious. The space looks elegant with tufted chairs, benches, live edge tabletops and pretty silverware. We really could have brought our stroller and just parked beside our table - the space is that spacious. I wanted to take a look at their pretty items in the display case, but there wasn't anything in there except for two berry mousse cakes. We ordered the siphon coffee, matcha panna cotta, and the valentine afternoon tea set. The tea set had small sandwiches (prosciutto, grilled cheese, some other sun dried tomato cheese pastry), lavender earl grey scone and plain scones, raspberry rose panna cotta, passion fruit mousse in chocolate cup, and a berry mousse cake. The sandwiches were quite simple and small, not very remarkable. The lavender scone was a winner - love love love the taste of lavender in the scone with a bit of the whipped butter/cream? It was so good we ordered another one separately. The plain scone came with a store bought jam in a mini jar - wished the chef made her own preserve to go with the scone instead. The highlight of the desserts in the tea set was the rose panna cotta - the rose flavour was so refreshing and light, with the sweetness and tartness from the raspberry sauce. Wished there was more of it! The matcha panna cotta that we ordered on the side unfortunately fell short of my expectation. Could barely taste the matcha and the cream it was served in masked any taste of the matcha. Maybe could have just served it with diced strawberries and lemon zest on top instead and it would have made me very happy. The berry mousse cake was delicious and light, the buttercream flower on top was beautiful but I couldn't finish the buttercream.. just a tad much. The waitress is very friendly and attentive. She would refill my teapot with hot water whenever it was starting to run low. She also lowered the blinds as to not bother my baby, and my husband who was reading. Took off stars because I think the cafe has great service, a very comfortable environment, and does a very good job with desserts and presentation but I thin the savoury items could be better. I am impressed that the place is wheelchair accessible and the washroom is huge! If only they just added a change table, that would be amazing. I had to bring my baby to the car to change his diaper and it's not very fun to do it in winter time. I just think, if they have such a nice and clean bathroom, why not include a change table ;) there aren't many people visiting during weekday afternoons but I'm sure mom's on mat leave such as myself would really enjoy coming here with other mommies or friends in the afternoon. So why not ;) I will definitely come back for their individual pastry items and tea :) Rating: 3.5/5.0 stars
