| - We decided to walk over to the Container Park on Saturday to check out Oak and Ivy. There are a few barstools inside, which were unfortunately all taken. I think the experience would've been different if we'd been able to interact with the bartenders, get recommendations, and watch them make the cool craft cocktails. I really wanted to order a Trust Fall (where the bartenders make something unique based on your preferences), but I didn't want to just list off some flavors I like to our server and hope for the best. If we come back, I will definitely wait for a seat at the bar.
We sat at a table outside, which is right next to a playground with no less than 50 kids running around, so it's not exactly the craft cocktail ambiance I'm used to. I was bummed that almost none of the cocktails on the website were actually on the menu presented to us. My husband ordered the Smoke & Ice, Nothing Nice and he enjoyed it! I wish I was a whiskey drinker because the menu definitely catered to those that are. I can't remember the name of mine (and it's not on the website), but I didn't think it was very memorable. A bit too sweet and felt like it needed some citrus to balance it out.
I would give this place another shot, but I will make sure to come at night to hopefully eliminate the screaming kid situation, and will sit at the bar. A bunch of the cocktails on the website, as well as on Yelp, look right up my alley, so I think I just happened to come at a time where the non-whiskey drinks on the menu just didn't fit my tastes.
