I love yoga because it keeps me accountable for giving my body the deep stretching it needs to maintain a healthy and fit body. I really love hot yoga because the heat really helps to loosen my joints up and get much more benefit from the yoga poses. With that said, I have some experience with both Bikram style hot yoga as well as the Sumits style hot yoga. Bikram style is much more instructional in that there is no music or choreographed flows but rather the instructor takes you through a series of poses and you do each one at least two times with the instructor reminding you how to position yourself to get the intended benefits. This really helps you to appreciate the benefits and form an understanding of why you're doing what you're doing and it helps you to really master the poses. In Sumit style hot yoga you flow to music through a sequence of both balancing and energizing poses which is a lot of fun and certainly has similar benefits, but if you haven't really mastered the poses in yoga you're better off starting with Bikram and than trying Sumits for an occasional change of pace. With all of this said, I've given Bikram Yoga in Peoria 5 stars because after trying the class for the first time yesterday I felt great all day and can feel in my body the benefits from the excellent instruction given during the class that helped me to get the absolute most from each and every pose. Also, this studio has wonderful amenities including a huge locker room with tons of space to hang your things, shower and get ready for the day. They also have a full smoothie bar and tons of apparel to shop if you feel so inclined. I also really love that the owner is hands on and gets to know his students. On top of that they are very competitive in pricing and are always offering great promotions to help you get the biggest bang for your buck. These are the reasons I've chosen to make Bikram Yoga in Peoria my go-to spot from now on. Hope this review helps you all.
