  • Been going there for awhile ( aka, regular customer) My Baume Marcier 14 K gold watch needed a battery, a young man (son or grandson I later learned) took it in the back room and then came out a few minutes later and charged me approximately $12 FOR A BATTERY. Fine, I paid him cash, said goodbye, wonderful? Two weeks later the watch is losing time again so I went back and told Ira that the battery THEY replaced in it isn't working. He took it in the back room and came out telling me that the battery in the watch was not a brand they sold? Then they asked me how much was I charged? I said, I can't remember, about $12. ? He said, "Well THAT is NOT even what we charge for a watch battery" ( which I later learned IS approximately what they charge??) They then asked me if I had a receipt, like I'm delusional!!! I said "No, not on me" BUT YOU CHANGED IT TO THIS BATTERY TWO WEEKS AGO AND I PAID FOR IT??? They then said, "Bring in a receipt"..OK, I get it...have a receipt! BUT did I save an approximately $12 receipt???? And was I going to go thru my receipts looking for a $12. receipt KNOWING reputable retail establishments can put your name in a computer and see ALL of your purchases?! AND I may NOT have even waited around for the receipt in the first place ??? Well...Yes, I was delusional I actually thought IRA would recognize me as a regular customer and trust me and treat me with some sort of respect as a good customer!? WRONG!! Recently I did find the receipt for a battery on ANOTHER 14K watch I took in for a battery...AS THAT WAS the only place I was aware of to get the battery for THAT watch, and it was a convenient location ? I did not EVEN have another watch/battery place at the time!!! No, the young man taking my money probably put the cash in his pocket and put a dud of a battery he found laying around on the workbench????!!! I don't know how the battery of a brand you don't carry got in there, seeing as YOU, M&I International were the last people to OPEN the watch (and I live alone no family member around to mess with my jewelry!) I do not even know how to take the back off of an expensive watch without scratching it and or possibly doing damage. AND like "Rolex" recommends, I would only take it to a "qualified" jeweler when it needed ANYTHING. I do not take the back off of any of my expensive watches! For $12. M & A could not give a GOOD/REGULAR customer the benefit of the doubt especially when it was ONLY THEY who had doubts! I was CERTAIN where I took it! ALL this humiliation For only $12 !!!!! Really? Their prices ARE more than 3 times what they should be on jewelry repair! ( I use to be in the industy) You can tell they are not used to a higher end clientele as they greedy gouge people and are rude to so many of their clients. You can tell they simply disrespect people in general which means people have disrespected them unfortunately... so ask yourself why? Then ask yourself WHY would you trust them with any of your valuables!
