  • Had a recent work outing here to see a checkers game. It was my first hockey game ever so I had no idea what to expect. Let me tell you this was a roller coaster of emotions for me experience wise. When we first got there I was less than impressed as the game hadn't yet started and yet the vendor I went to was not only out of one of their TWO beer selections but also hotdogs :/ what the heck either how early did people get here and start chowing down or how underprepared were you? But I'm a positive person so I bought a beer and moved on to find seats with my coworkers. Finally we were in the seats which are SUPER small and I am an average sized person and this was a tight squeeze I felt pretty bad for my guy coworkers who are just normal size men maybe a little tall seemed like sardines in a can they were on top of each other it was such a tight fit. But I'll have to say the checkers did know how to take your mind off of these little things and sure did put on a show. Also we just happened to come on April fools day and they played a prank on the crowd with a busted engagement proposal. They really had us going the couple was playing along the whole time even when cameras were off as this arena is THAT SMALL you can literally see the people across the rink in detail. My next experience here was a little confusing I went back down to find another beer and a snack since I was still hungry from being told they were out of hotdogs I figured nachos. And then I notice there's a large amount of people walking around with hotdogs! I have been deceived so it appears. So I make my way down the stairs once more where I find a vendor that not only has the all beef hotdog I have been craving but craft beer too! Hallelujah! I purchase the goodies and back to the game I go. Hotdog was good but they always are at sporting events that's why I get 'em! Game was great the checkers are winning and it's the break before the 3rd period and I'm low on beer which at a sports event is unacceptable so off for another beer I go which I was weary about going to the last vendor since my last beer from them seemed to have a small chunk of some sort of solid food in it I am not going to let myself think about it since I didn't see it til after the beer was almost gone, hey it's gone nothing I can do so better to not freak out, however this was the only vendor I could find anyway with the non bud light and bud only options so I went back. This time they yes had beer but I was not allowed to purchase any as they don't sell in the 3rd period. I was sad but it's the same at football games so I wasn't surprised. Then I walk back upstairs and see people PURCHASING BEER. What the heck! So I walk up to one of the other vendors which only have you guessed it bud and bud light I ask for one and voila! I have beer! Bad beer but beer non the less. I ask her about when they stop selling she said the standard of once the 3rd period starts. Hmm ok I decided it was not worth a conversation so I just took my sub par beer and returned to the game. All in all a great/weird/confusing/not super sanitary/memorable experience. I'll def be back as it was a lot of fun but I'll keep in mind to get there early and check my beer for foreign objects.
