| - I have rented from Thrifty twice in Denver at the airport, once at the Miami airport, and I never had a problem. We used a debit card all 3 times. My credit score at the time of Denver and Miami was right around 545 but we had absolutely no problems. I get to Las Vegas for this year's vacation, go to use a debit card (mind you I have already pre-paid online) and my credit score comes up as 618 and they tell me they cannot rent to me. What??? I've never had a problem before now. Not only that but they refused to refund my pre-paid money... Omg. I was out $118 plus no rental. They just took my money and gave me nothing. I have called the "third party" contracted company and they told me, oh well, hate it for ya, there's nothing "I" can do. Well....I've done some digging and apparently since hiring the "third party" contract phone service people (from another country), the Thrifty counter will turn you down and say you have to contact the third party vendor, that there's nothing they can do (even when I called Customer Service at the Thrifty number, they told me that). Well, the third party was apparently hired in order to tell ppl they aren't getting their money back. Keep in mind: Nowhere on their rental site does it say what your credit score has to be in order for the rental to be completed with a debit card. this should be illegal! and I am writing the attorney general's office in Las Vegas with my issue and the better business bureau. I even asked the guy at the counter what it had to be? He said, "I don't know, they don't tell us that". Really-??? So, they can tell you on their website that a person with a debit card can rent a car and pre-pay but you get the car depending on your "soft credit rating" but can turn down any credit rating they want to and next thing you know...Oops, you do not get a refund on that pre-payment you made while online. Beware, Beware, Beware...They are scamming people who only have a debit card to use.
