Let's begin with the.... drumroll please...
WASHROOMS: Goodness gracious me! Who goes to the toilet like that.
I was desperate for a pee, and was relieved to see the washroom sign just as I walked in; thought to myself that I would give this place a good review - after all, the washrooms weren't tucked away like in every other store - No Frills, Home Depot, you name it. And then I opened the door to a stall to examine for decency. And holy moly splatter! Everywhere! I've never known a person to explode like that. It looked a few hours old - dried goo, basically. It's baffling that it wasn't cleaned up.
So this little incident set the mood for my Yuan Ming experience. I was ready to give this store a one star. But my parents do like it quite a bit and I had to see why:
1. They carry Guavas and Dragonfruits in their produce section.
2. Their produce section is really well-priced. I found blackberries - 3 boxes for $3. Quite the steal!
3. So many brands of cooking coconut milk! Prices starting from 88c.
4. Shrimps. Different kinds, various pricing.
5. Fresh fish deli. It stinks like hell but it's the good stuff.
6. Dumplings at 5 bags for $10.
7. Steamers, Woks and other stainless steel utensils at very good prices.
8. Cheese is well-priced! I purchased a tub of Feta for $3.
This is an Asian food store. It's not where you find your regular Michelina meals. My parents like shopping here because they love fish and they both like cooking from scratch - with various Asian sauces, spices, coconut milk and more. And they like guavas. We all like guavas.
