| - I have grown up consuming massive amounts of bubble tea, so I consider myself a bit of a milk tea snob. I'm terribly picky with my drinks, and most locations just don't cut it for me. Formocha is a cute establishment with satisfactory drinks; lots of places in Toronto pale in comparison to this store! I wish I could give 3.5 stars actually, but 4 stars is alright as well.
The store has a couple of posters with their animal mascots on them, presumably advertising something? They had lots of red tables placed around with nary a customer; however, bear in mind it was a Wednesday afternoon and lunch time had already passed. There was also a (well-drawn) chalkboard picture of the minions placed beside their lengthy menu on the wall. Pretty cakes and milk tea toppings were displayed proudly in clear boxes so that we could physically see the options for the bubble tea.
We ordered oolong milk tea and rose milk tea, and we were able to customize the drink as we desired. You could adjust the size, amount of ice, sweetness level, and the toppings. The servers were painstakingly slow at crafting the drinks and did not offer the points card until I requested for one. Fortunately, the drinks were delicious enough to mollify my dismay at their rather cold customer service.
The taste of tea was distinct and cut through the rather sweet beverage; it was not too creamy and the drink was rather light compared to most milk teas. I asked for half-sweet, which was perfect for me. The other drink was ordered with full-sweetness, and although it was still delicious, I could not stomach the sugary milk tea. It's probably still a good option if you have a sweet tooth though! I would definitely make a special trip back here to sample their other drink selections; most milk tea stores in downtown aren't as yummy or authentic as Formocha.
