| - Mix Sux. We went last Friday since we were staying in Mandalay and thought we'd give it a try.
I know Vegas is all about the velvet rope, but we went when half the lounge was cordoned off for a "private party" while the other half was blocked-off for the bottle service tables. I assume it's like this every night.
Now I'm okay with the idea of bottle service, but why make a lounge all blocked off like that - kind of inhibits "MIXing." And it never feels good to have goons in the middle of the place gaurding entry/exit points like you are in Soviet Russia.
I went to Risque in The Paris a couple years back and had the table service, I've done that a couple times, but it isn't like that at Mix . At Risque, tables are reserved, that's all. You can freely walk around or chit-chat with whomever you please. It's cooler. Mix's setup leaves very little real estate to walk around in.
The balcony was totally closed too, even though it wasn't that cold and didn't seem very windy, plus they did have heat lamps.
The crowd was also lame, mostly older guys, like old, like 50s. I'm over 30 and I still felt like I was partying with papa. I was there with another dude and a good looking girl, and they got each of us for a $20 cover. Even the blond girl? Duh, bad business, morons. With the crowd I saw at the pool in Mandalay earlier, it shouldn't have been that bad, but it was.
And the music was just junk, you couldn't dance to it. The DJ apparently didn't notice he had an empty floor all night, or didn't try different stuff to get people up. Or it just wasn't working with the people they let in.
Another threesome that sat at a nonreserved table for a couple hours like us gave up and left at the same time. We agreed: Mix = bad wedding + cash bar.
I will give them one credit: the bartenders were very friendly. That's about it, though.
