| - I have consistently dined in Nordstrom Cafes for as long as I can remember. I have been disappointed as of late as Nordstrom has seemed to follow suit with every other restaurant out there and has changed their recipes to lower their cost of business. Sandwiches that were once served on ciabatta (or similar) are now made with regular white bread. The margarita pizza, which was once bursting with flavor is now very mild and bland (did they change the cheese? Did they change the sauce? I dunno, but something is different, and I am not the only person who has noticed!). I have particularly never been a major fan of the Scottsdale location because in the past, the wait staff was a bit curt. However, after eating there today, it appears to me that some positive changes have been made.
The man at the cash register was very nice - he and his coworker were cracking funny jokes with me. The woman who served us, Lisa, was outstanding. She was quick to help (we were there for a birthday party and had a few kids with us), our drinks were never empty and she bent over backward to accommodate our every need. She is a stellar employee and asset to this cafe - something they have been lacking for a long time.
The food is still decent, it just isn't what it used to be... but that's pretty much anywhere you go these days. Sad, but true - I am learning this is a consequence of a struggling economy. This time around, though, the customer service was fantastic.
Thanks for a fun day, Nordstrom!
