| - In theory it's a good idea. A cheerful little beauty bar that's accessible and easy. But in practice, not so sure. The subterranean space is wide open, peppered with brushed steel industrial furniture that used to be kind of cool. The receptionist says to take a seat, but it's not quite obvious where. In the centre of the white brick space are two apple green banquettes for pedicures. There's long table, but it's not apparent if it's for staff or customer use. And behind a series of sliding glass doors are small rooms with day beds that don't look very inviting.
The staff wanders around much like one would expect at Aldo, except a little cooler, and slightly less helpful. I have my treatment, and it's fine. I've heard from friends and neighbors, that 'fine' is about as good as it gets. There is a trio of girls on the banquette enjoying their foot scrub, but I would rather hold out for the grand throne-like massage chairs down the street, where the ladies work like tigresses to get rid of winter flesh.
Still, the Ten Spot is a cheery little place, just as M&M's are a cheerful little bag of chocolates. Sadly, I'm not really a fan of M& M's and would prefer to hold out for the real deal; chocolate that's smooth, satisfying, and intense. Just a personal preference really. Candy coating just isn't my thing.
