Wanted to share by bad experience with Hertz rent-a-car last week. What a rip-off. I had made online reservations to reserve a car for while we went to Pittsburgh for my Mom's funeral. Had never used Hertz before. We rent cars 4 or 5 times a year but normally use Alamo or Budget. When we got to the Hertz counter, we were told that there would be an extra charge for my husband to drive as "second driver". I explained that I don't intend to drive to and from my Mom's funeral. I never intended to drive. Tom would be the ONLY driver. The awful clerk would not take off the extra charge. Said if I didn't like it, I could go to another car rental company. Said that since I reserved the car, I have to be the driver. Husband and I are seniors. We have same address, insurance and credit card, he didn't care. Since we were already late (plane was delayed 2 hours) we didn't have time to price shop rental cars, so we paid the extra 40 dollars. What a horrible experience. So now HERTZ and DOLLAR (bad experience in Las Vegas last year) are on my NEVER USE list. How mean and rotten of them. He had me crying.
