  • First of all, it's important to note that there are two Doubletrees in Cleveland. One is in Midtown (in the building that was formerly the Tudor Arms Hotel) and the other is in Dowtnown near the lake. Was a bit confusing for me at first but I believe we got the better one! So, I'm a fan of being a tourist in your own city so for my birthday, I arranged an evening for my husband and I to spend in Downtown (sans baby!) I have to say that this hotel met and exceeded many of our expectations. The LIKES: -- The legendary chocolate chip cookie. They offer you this right on check-in. Yes, please!! And you are encouraged to come back for seconds. What?! -- The fact that there is a Starbucks in the lobby. I'm no coffee fiend, but I do take some tea now and then and Starbucks is as a very kind corporate chain (its part-time employees get healthcare!) so, all in all, convenient and good. -- The room itself was tastefully decorated. Bed was firm and smelled nice. The bathroom was clean. -- In the morning before we checked out, we used the pool. Twas very nice! Clean and appropriately heated. Who can't love an indoor pool in the Midwest in October? The NOT SO GOOD: -- Parking was $16 per day! Seemed exorbitant for Cleveland. -- Our room had a view....of the ventilation system. :( But hey, we got these rooms half-priced from Hotwire so we can't complain too much. -- That cookie had walnuts in it! :( I know, I know, how dare I complain about free food, but many Americans have nut allergies. Seemed like an unnecessary liability. Also, let's respect the sanctity of chocolate chip cookies. Say NO to randomly sticking nuts in everything. All in all, it was a pleasant stay and I would go back. I ate two cookies (mine and my husband) and scored two more for take-away. ;) I can be bought with cookies, especially if there are chocolate in them!
