| - How do you even write a review for a place as great as Amena? Like...really? We had been s l o g g i n g our way down the strip just fantasizing about something good to eat, something real and comforting and delicious. We were calling places, dipping into and out of casino parking lots, on and off the freeway. It was misery. We pulled off Decatur - into this big and mostly vacant parking lot. And there it was. AMENA!
When we walked in it was quiet. We were exhausted, hungry, basically two depleted humans in need of sustenance, and not just food. Somehow I knew the food would be delicious. I know Greek. I know Lebanese, Persian, and the like. I love Mediterranean food. We ordered falafel, gyro, grape leaves, some hummus...a bunch of little things arrived. We were TAKEN CARE OF by our waitress/hostess/server who was so kind and generous and informative. We were TAKEN CARE OF by Amer, the owner, who shared his passion for food and even a couple desserts on the house. I was humbled, honestly, at the beauty of the food and the warmth of the proprietors. Everything was fresh, everything warm and bright and deeply satisfying and nuanced and delicious. This place is NOT TO BE MISSED if you're in Vegas for even one day. AMENA is to be at the TOP OF YOUR LIST if you need catering. I believe Amer, the owner, said he is from Nazareth. THAT is cool. All the food, without question, comes redolent with history and tradition - I know that much. This place is SO BEAUTIFUL! It's a nice little deli in a kind-of strange location, but easy to get to and worth returning to frequently. It's that good. Bring people. Tell people. Eat and enjoy life at Amena. That's what we did. #supersatisfying
