| - "We're a Katsu House, not a Curry House." - Owner of Tonkatsu Kiyoshi
There are only a couple of options in Vegas for quality katsu...Tonkatsu Kiyoshi is one of them. I love the pride they take in their product here. I once asked if they were able to make the curry in the katsu dinner spicy, that was when I was told, "We're a Katsu House, not a Curry House." At first you might be taken back from that comment, but as you spend any time here it is readily evident that they are highly passionate about their katsu...and that comes through in the quality of their food.
They will recommend the Hire (Pork Tenderloin) Katsu if you ask. I shared this the first time I came here, and, while good, I haven't ordered it again. Instead I usually get the Tori (Chicken) Katsu Dinner...I like the flavor of the chicken more, but I eat a lot more chicken than pork, so I may be biased and you may need to try them both and decide. The last time I was here was my favorite visit and opened me up to even more possibilities. I came in with my love and her daughter and we shared Tori Katsu, Ebi (Shrimp) Fry, and Salmon (Salmon) Fry. The salmon was the hit of the table, but everything was absolutely enjoyed...so we may need to come again with 3 or 4 of us to continue to be able to share a few items.
We also enjoyed the opportunity to make our sauce by grinding the sesame seeds with the pestle and mortar. I brought my sister here previously and the simple act of grinding the seeds was memorable part of that experience as well.
There are curry options in the specials section of their menu...they are solid options...definitely not to be avoided...but again, they're a katsu house, not a curry house, and there are slightly better curry options in town IMHO.
Tonkatsu Kiyoshi is certainly worth trying out if you like pork or chicken cutlets...and an absolute must if you like katsu as it's one of the best in town!
