Six years later. I came back to Cleveland for a business trip. Cleveland was different than I remember. Public Square was actually kind of nice. There were people walking around downtown after 5pm. My colleagues and I were out on East 4th but everyone was pretty sick of the scene there. I remembered Moriarty's and started to lead the group over.
For all I knew Moriarty's could have closed, or could have been bought up and turned into an overpriced foodie bar just like seemingly everywhere else in the area.
We walked in the door and it was like I went into a time warp. Moriarty's was still there and nothing had changed. Nothing. It was glorious. We spent the next few hours in there and eventually closed the place down. Everyone had a fun time.
Funny how as Cleveland has changed so has my opinion of this bar. Six years ago I said I wouldn't take out-of-towners here. Now, as an out-of-towner, I just brought a bunch of others here and it was great.
