| - This review for my personal favorite Las Vegas restaurant is long overdue.
Chef John and staff are doing everything right - fresh fish, amazing sauces that are so thoughtfully executed, all at moderate prices with attentive service. You can find us here at all times of the day. Their lunch menu is affordable and my husband loves their take on hamburger steak + gravy. I love coming in during Happy Hour (4-6pm) and getting a sample of everything. The usual suspects being the tostadas (hamachi being my favorite), shrimp tempura roll, cajun albacore sashimi and the miso cod lettuce wraps. If we're here during dinner, we're getting the short ribs with a side of rice, although the potatoes that come with it are really tasty too. The lobster tempura and the rock shrimp tempura are not oily and come with really tasty dipping sauces. If you ever want extra of any sauce, don't be shy, the staff is happy to oblige.
I've never really been too big on raw fish, but Chef John does it right. We've sampled a lot of the other sashimi and fresh fish offerings here, and have yet to be disappointed. Flavors are always complex and we love that Chef John sends us new dishes to try. Even our friends from out of town ventured out to eat here and were really impressed. This place is getting more and more popular, so I would recommend making reservations.
We also recently dined at Sen of Japan and were very disappointed with the food and experience (should have listened to Antonia R.'s review!). During that meal, all I could think of was how much better the food is at Soho, and how much better value you are getting for your money. Oh well, lesson learned!
