  • I go to Vegas about once or twice a year and for the first time, decided to try a couple days in the Freemont Street area and decided on the California Hotel and then stayed at the strip for the rest of the trip. I was very happy that I tried this hotel! My husband and I were very impressed! The rates were very reasonable and not having to pay resort fees is a real treat (especially since the Canadian dollar is so doing so poorly against the USD) It isnt as glamorous as the strip hotels but, for the money I would definitely do this again! The hotel is so close to Freemont Street and the Mob Museum (only a couple blocks) and connected via pedway to the Main Street Hotel (try their Friday night Seafood Buffet YUM). We got a West Tower premium room (which I would recommend) . THe pool area was really nice! Simple little pool but the colour scheme was very fun and there were only a couple people taking advantage so we had the run of the place! I felt safe even when walking by myself to the hair salon I wanted to treat myself to (ILOVEBOMBSHELLS if you want to treat yourself to a hair cut, makeup or spray tan). I did not take advantage of the free shuttle to the strip but that is a nice feature that I will remember for the next holiday! One thing I wanted to point out was how safe I felt at this hotel! They had security roaming the hallways and the pool area on an hourly basis so you know that you wont have any trouble! One security guard (Stephen) was soooo nice! I was very impressed with the safety in this complex!
