Today my friend, Virginia, and I decided to try this little Greek spot on the corner of Rea and Colony. It was light and bright and had a friendly staff of people. My chicken kabob and hand cut fries came in a blue plastic basket, almost what you would expect to find in a fish camp. At best, the food was very average. The chicken was a bit chewy and the fries were heavily salted and greasy. I guess some would say that's how fries SHOULD BE! Although I didn't try the hummus, they were offering a lot of different flavors that looked very appetizing. One in particular was the chipotle hummus. I probably should have substituted that instead of the fries. It's always harder to make a food selection while you're standing at a counter and trying to order. I prefer a sit down place with a menu and a server. Competition is becoming really robust in Charlotte with Mediterranean food. There seems to be one of these restaurants on every corner now. With Yafo, Cava, and the Jasmine Grill setting very high standards, smaller places like this really need to step it up to stay in the game. I suspect they have a loyal following, based on their neighborhood location. And, I salute them for bringing something other than than another ho hum burger joint or chain restaurant to this part of town.
