We wanted to take a trip to the Summerlin area to see how that compared to Vegas, while we were there we realized that the Red Rock Canyon was nearby.
My husband and I are originally from New York, so we really enjoy taking in the unique mountain areas of the west coast.
The thing that I really like about this spot is that there is something for every physical ability level. For example, my mom broke her hip last year and has limited mobility, but this would be a great place to take her. However, there are also many hiking opportunities for those that enjoy more strenuous activities.
It was quite chilly the day we were visiting, so we chose to simply take a drive through and stopped for a few photo opportunities.
There was a $7 entry fee per car for admittance to the park, I thought that was pretty reasonable.
There is a visitor's center at the beginning, but we didn't stop. There is a very scenic 13 mile loop through the park. I really enjoyed seeing the different types of rocks and mountains.
