Long version:
I admittedly went way beyond what is an appropriate timeline for going without a hair cut, and despite trying various natural products and techniques my hair was not in great condition. That being said, I am a something of a perfectionist and it was important to me to find someone with skill and the ability to hear and produce what I'm looking for. Over the last years, I've gone to a friend back home who is fantastic - she always got it right - but it's such a trek to see her. So, when I finally admitted enough was enough I scoured Yelp, Facebook, Instagram, etc.
After investigating a baker's dozen of salons around the city, Queen's Shop caught my attention because it has something the others didn't - it emphasizes natural products and beauty, sustainability, and community. This holistic approach very much appealed to me, and I felt that I'd found a good one. As well, the skill is discernible through the photos online.
Today was the big day. Alicia was fantastic and I'll definitely be sticking with her! She not only listened to what I want and my concerns, she was genuinely interested. I adore the cut and she worked some kind of magic because the condition of my hair is already much improved. On top of that, she's great company and the atmosphere of the salon is very welcoming and comfortable. I highly recommend!
