We met some relatives here for dinner this evening. I was excited to try this place because I remember seeing these two chefs on TV.
We sat down to wait and was served chips and salsa. Additionally, we ordered the homemade guacamole and queso fundido. The guacamole was very yummy--the avocado was creamy and fresh! The queso fundido came with three small flour tortillas and was cheesy, stringy and yummy goodness. It was like a make-your-own mini quesadillas appetizer.
Little O had the Kid's Bean and Cheese Burrito with fruit on the side and a watermelon lemonade. The burrito was made with black beans, not refried beans. The burrito was a good size, at least the size of my hand. The watermelon lemonade was lemonade with a watermelon syrup, not to her liking so she switched with her big sister.
H had a Kid's Quesadilla with fruit on the side and a strawberry lemonade. The quesadilla was simple and on the small side. But she was also so full from all the chips, salsa and queso fundido that we had it was the perfect meal for her.
CONFESSION: I had TOO many chips, salsa, guacamole and queso fundido as well so I stuck with two appetizers--grilled octopus and grilled elote (Mexican corn)--for my meal.
The grilled octopus was cooked well, not over done so it was tender. But I wasn't fond of the seasoning and flavors it had. I ended up dipping it in hubby's crema that came with his taquitos.
The elote (Mexican corn) was grilled and had good seasoning. I wish it had more mayo and cheese, though.
Hubby also ate too many chips and salsa so he went with the brisket taquitos. The taquitos were flavorful but the sauce they served over it was too thick and the flavor was overwhelming. It reminded me of enchilada sauce. Then it made the taquitos soggy. Hubby was sad. The meal came with a side of black beans and rice. I usually sample it but as I said earlier, I ate too many chips to even do so. LOL!
Our server, Rachel, was very attentive and patient with our group as we arrived in shifts before we were a complete party of 7. Our water glasses were never empty, the gentleman waiter did his job very well.
I would definitely come back for the chips, salsa, guacamole and queso fundido.
