  • I am big fan of Bobby Flay and every opportunity we find, we visit Mesa Grill. Tonight, my family and I decided to go to Mesa and we called to reserve our table. Surprisingly, hostess offered various opening and we made our reservation at 7:30. I did ask the hostess to please accommodate us with a table that is not sitting in the middle of other tables which makes it very uncomfortable to have a good family time. Hostess advised she will do her best to take care of us. Upon arrival, the hostess greeted us and asked to follow her to our table. Sure enough she showed us our table that was in the middle of bunch of other tables . Interestingly there was a table five feet away and we asked the hostess to sit us at that table when she responded that table was reserved hours ago. I asked her how she reserved that specific table when all these times that we have dined at Mesa, we were never offered any specific table. She responded that this is a very high value client. I told her if she is not going to assist us despite many empty tables, we will go elsewhere. She took us back to the front when the other hostess told us we have to wait another 30 minutes to get another table. At this time I wasn't in the mood to argue with her and therefore I asked to speak to her manager. Few minutes later a tall gentlemen approaches me and tells me the same nonsense that the table I asked the hostess to accommodate was in fact reserved weeks ago and he will do his best to give us another table. In less than 5 minutes he gives us one of the best table by the window which was far superior to the one we asked and was told it was reserved weeks in advance. Huh I reacted. What a bunch of crap they were telling us. The average table was reserved weeks in advance when the best table became available in 5 minutes Are you kidding me? Is this how you train your manager to be a bigger liar than the hostess who proclaimed that the table was reserved a few hours ago? Whose lying and whose telling the truth remain to be mystery. I even advised the manager that Mesa Grill used to have an hour wait time and tonight being a holiday weekend, the restaurant had no wait time with many tables empty. While the food was good and extremely over priced, perhaps the management and service destroyed our enjoyment as well as the volume that once upon a time Mesa was producing. Please remember people come to dine with a family friendly and caring restaurant. Customers don't come to $$$$ restaurant to debate a simple silly seating accommodations. Please train your team to be customer centric before you close your doors down as the famous Olives owned by Todd English did at Belagio.
