  • Finch has much in common with Kipling station my local station. Finch is the terminus station on the Yonge line and the most northerly station of all until the Vaughan extension is completed that will go to Highway 7 and Jane. This station being an "end of the line" type station like Kipling services a much greater area than just the surrounding neighborhood in that some of the ridership includes individuals from the 905 area north of Steeles. Another factor of Finch being at the end of the line is that they have a lot of parking. Before when the TTC Metropass included parking at the station it perhaps was even more crowded than before. Just like Kipling station this parking lot fills up regardless that there's a cost involved or not. The daily cost is the same, 5 dollars in the morning and a reduced 2 dollars after 3pm. There is no overnight parking after 2am to 5am. The parking for Finch is divided into 2 lots east and west. The west lot entrances are on the west side of Yonge north of Hendon or on Hendon. This irregularly shaped parking lot bends where the softball diamonds are and extends all the way west to Talbot road. The eastern parking lot is on the side of the bus platforms which is at the north east intersection of Bishop and Yonge. The entrance for the parking lot is actually a block east off of Willowdale avenue on the north side of Bishop. The passenger pickup or "Kiss and Ride" circle (just like Kipling) is a circular building where cars can wait to meet individuals since you are not allowed to drive into the actual station where the bus platforms are. This structure is on the west side of Yonge with entrances to the circle going south on Yonge (to the right) or there is another entrance by the west parking lot entrance just to the right of that off Hendon. The driving direction in this circle is one way clockwise only. If you park in facing the building at one of the few spots you need to drive straight through the "inner circle" and you will come out facing south to go either left or right on Hendon. The TTC station structure itself is between Finch and Bishop on the east side of Yonge behind the buildings that face Yonge. There are bus platforms on both the east side and west side of the building. There are also GO buses at this station as well as other out of town buses that have their own platforms at the north east corner of Yonge and Bishop. The taxi line is on the east side outside the station on Bishop Ave. Buses: 36 Finch West - A very long route basically straight along Finch and all the way west to Etobicoke towards Humber College 39 Finch East - Another long straight route going east to Scarborough to Neilson road in Malvern 42 Cummer - This bus goes up Yonge and travels east along Cummer which turns into McNicoll to Kennedy 53 Steeles East - This bus runs north to Steeles and then east all the way to Markham road. Some of the variant bus routes loop around Oasis Blvd or Tapscott. 60 Steeles West - This bus like the 53 has several variances of routes but basically goes up Yonge and west on Steeles. The furthest west this bus can go is as far as the 427/407 interchange area in northern Etobicoke 125 Drewry - Sort of like the 42 but instead of going east on Cummer it goes west on Drewry (same street really) and passes Bathurst going through Don Lake Gate and does a large counter clockwise loop around Antibes which is a horseshoe shaped crescent turning left on Torresdale and then back onto Antibes and returning east along Drewry again. With the number of parking spots (over 3200), bus routes and being the most northern subway station serving connections to GO and VIVA it's understandable that by the time the southbound 1 line hits stations like Eglinton or St. Clair before Bloor that the trains are packed during rush hour even more so when passing Sheppard-Yonge since the Don Mills line collects even more passengers going southbound in the morning.
