This is one of the few places within walking distance of me that I hadn't yet been to, so I was ecstatic when my date suggested 43 North for Valentine's day! The atmosphere was totally date-y, though since they moved everything to be two person tables it got a bit cramped. The Valentine's day menu looked good, but we got too excited about the regular menu and ordered off that.
We got:
-the Syrah-Grenache-Mouvedere which was perfect with the rest of the meal!
-the hard goat cheese (literally amazing) and the fenugreek gouda (super interesting and delicious)
-the dates stuffed with goat cheese with pesto and walnuts
-duck confit salad and butternut squash salad. In my opinion, the duck confit blew the rest of the meal out of the water. I also love love love duck confit so I might be biased... But it was DELICIOUS. Salty with the right amount of crunch and sweetness from the cabbage and the walnuts. Whew!
-for main entrees, the wagyu was awesome. Ended up eating my half essentially without realizing it because I was in a fog of deliciousness. Then the lamb cassoulet... If you love white beans, this is the thing for you. And I do! Yum!!
Couldn't even get to dessert because we were too full. (Though they did give us little cakes with our check!)
Wow. What a meal!! Will 100% be back.
