Aparrently when you sign up you need to have a Vet sign a "orthopedic waiver" or anything orthopedic is not covered. My one year old dog who has seen the same vet since he was 12 weeks old and never had anything in his charts on any issues what so ever with anything, fell off the couch(missing the back of it) and blew out his knee. 6000.00 worth of surgery costs and continued rehab and not a penny was paid due to the orhopedic exclusion. In addition my tiny yorkie had an obstuction in her throat and started vomiting. She was hospitalized due to dehydration. Of course with any small dog the first concern is a hypo glycemic episode ( she had one prior), however they determined a small piece of apple must have lodged in her throat, filled her stomach with air(X-ray showed it to be 3 times the size it should have been.) It worked itself out on its own, she was given IV of fluids and watched over night. Her claims were rejected due to pre existing condition. We fought this claim as it clearly was not due to hypo glycemic episode and they agreed to pay BUT it was a hassle.
