  • Hmmm... Expected to love this place. Nothing I love better than chocolate. Well... other than chocolate and wine ~ paired! BUT (read on)... I brought my mother, hoping for this to be a fun little place to visit on our Cleveland weekend excursion and I was horribly put off. Looking forward to the pairings, I was interested in the wine and some of the chocolates, but not necessarily the pairings they had matched up. I tried the first they suggested with the wine and it was decent. I was looking forward to having the next (2 oz) pour with a chocolate, but not the one they had paired (did not sound appetizing at all). I asked if I could swap it out for a chocolate that I was interested in. The owner had happened to walk out at that moment and SO RUDELY told me that she only allowed the wine to be paired with the chocolate she picked out and would not allow the wine to be poured matched with any other chocolate. But........ I still wanted a bit more wine. And...... I still wanted a bit more chocolate. What happened to the customer is always right?? Or even politely explain that that's not what she was intending for the pairing and... something else. But NO. I wanted to leave at that very moment. But I still wanted my mother to have a positive experience on our short trip together so I tried to make the best of it. The girl behind the counter (I hope she won't get in trouble for this because she was really helpful, knowledgeable and nice) actually gave me the short pour of wine (without me asking ~ I think she felt bad that the owner had been so rude to us) with the chocolate I was interested in trying (even though the owner pretty much told me to get lost and that this was not possible) for the price I paid for wine + chocolate tasting. I have to say ~ the chocolates did not blow me away (certainly not for the price) though perhaps I had a sour taste in my mouth from the INCREDIBLY RUDE TREATMENT FROM THE OWNER. Wish I could say this was a standout from my trip to Cleveland (BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING I LIKE MORE THAT WINE + CHOCOLATE), but I would have to say that i would NOT go back again.
