| - Deseo is such a beautiful restaurant! I loved the cheese bread, and could probably eaten an entire basket had they not rationed it and only given one roll per person. For the apps, we loved the beef tartare -- it wasn't too garlicky, and was fully of a really great mix of flavors. I didn't really understand the "chorizo" dust because it tasted like nothing, but the avocado dressing was tasty!
LOVED the wagyu short ribs, so tender and flavorful! The black bean stew was good, but I did NOT like the fried spinach. The leaves looked cool, but were oily and had a weird flavor. In terms of other entrees that I tried, the hangar steak was extremely juicy and tasty. And although the mole on top of the pork chop was delicious, the pork chop itself was very tough and thick. The corn tamale that comes with it is pretty dense as well, and it was hard to eat more than a bite.
One of the highlights of our meal were the CHOCO CROQUETTES! They were golden nuggets of molten chocolate heaven! I definitely liked the croquettes more than the chocolate cigar. The cigar has a great aesthetic, but it was very thick and I wasn't blown away by the coffee ice cream either.
I would definitely return for another fancy date night out or for a nicer family dinner!
Side note: our waiter was weird when we mentioned that it was my parents' anniversary, and got moody/upset that we "ruined the surprise of an anniversary dessert". I was a little thrown off by that.
