| - After having lunch at one of the numerous restaurants near Eastern and 215, I was in the mood for boba. There are only two choices in this area. Having been to QQ Boba a few times recently, I figured it was time to give the inferior location of No. 1 Boba Tea a second try.
It was a weekday afternoon, and there were two employees and zero other customers. I quickly decided on the mango smoothie, the same problem product from my first visit and a favorite of mine from the Chinatown Mall location. It was $3.95 for a 24 oz cup, boba included.
As with the other location, you can tell that there is real fruit because they cut it up in plain view. There is a significant difference between real mango and other things purporting to be mango, and there was real mango flavor in my smoothie. The boba was pretty nice and chewy, not overdone. There was one problem that I noticed more and more as I consumed the smoothie though: it was way too sweet. I'm a guy who normally asks for no sugar adjustments, and I didn't ask for any this time, so I was shocked that the flavor was unpleasantly sweet at times even for me.
I will probably try this location again if I'm in the area and I really want fresh fruit, but for more consistent sweet drinks with (or without) boba, I will stick to QQ Boba or the Chinatown Mall location of No. 1 Boba Tea.
