My friend invited me to go see Star Wars 3D with his family so I was all for it. I was surprised at assigned seating because I have never heard of that unless it's like a big event/premiere. My friends kept telling me it's because they revamped it & now it's a "luxury" theater. In all honesty I'm from Japan so I didn't have a friggen' clue what that meant & just thought that it'd be cleaner or something lol.
I was pleasantly surprised to learn that a luxury theater is one of those theaters with the couch like seating. My assigned seat was great because I got lucky with the middle seat & the reclining chair was nice with all that 3D action. It was very clean & comfortable, just like watching at home but with the big screen experience! I like that there's more space between the person next to me & I (although this wasn't really an issue this time because I had people I knew on both sides of). I'm usually not a huge fan of regular theaters because of the lack of personal space. Like I mentioned the only thing I don't like is the assigned seating. I've always chosen the same general seating area so it annoys me not to get to choose but I suppose it's less of an issue because with the luxury couches you're not likely to get kicked in the head like at a regular theater. (Seriously can't tell you how many times I've gotten into altercations with ghetto people because of being kicked in the head at a normal theater. A big reason why I'm not a fan of movie theaters).
It's still a theater so if someone is talking it is still just as annoying as usual but overall this might convince me to get out to the cinema more. I can dig it.
