Did some research on visiting the South Rim and this company looked to have the best price.
Our pickup time was at 6 am at Excalibur (we stayed at the Luxor so the walk over wasn't a big deal). The bus was 20 minutes late to pick us up and seeing as Excalibur is the first pickup spot this doesn't make much sense... On the bus, you get a water, pastry, and granola bar for a light breakfast. Seats are average, but my tour was not full so I was able to snag an entire row (2 seats) for myself.
The stop at Hoover Dam was just enough time to take a look and get a picture. No more time really needed to spend here. Our bus driver switched over at the Hoover Dam. Both of the drivers were nice and kept talking to a minimum after the initial informational talk about the attractions. Otherwise they play 2 documentaries total (1 about Hoover Dam and 1 about Grand Canyon). Also there's a movie on the way back. This definitely helps the time pass on the long drive. The stop at Route 66 is nice as well and you can take a picture by the highway sign.
The deli lunch is basic, but pretty tasty. A bottle of water, turkey sandwich (other choice ham), bag of chips, a cookie, and an apple. I kept the cookie as a snack for later on. For people with larger appetite this might not be enough though, so bring snacks!
The South Rim is definitely the place to go when considering the Grand Canyon. This destination is the star of the show and the tour company just gets you there for a great price. Absolutely amazing and breathtaking!
Only other downside that really isn't the company's fault is the ride back. There is one stop at a McDonalds a little over half way back to Vegas. This time is grueling so bring something to do!
Grand Canyon Destinations did what they had to do -- got me to the Grand Canyon. Everything beyond that was icing on the cake.
