| - Very nice building with nice views and amentities.
We are coming up on the end of our lease here, and we initially were renting with the intention of buying.
Pros: Very nice amenities that are well maintained. Building in general has been a nice place to live in. Bug wise - so far no centipedes. Our balcony had quite a few spiders during the summer, but some spray took care of that. Maintenance is fast.
Cons:
As a couple in our early 30s we feel we deal with a surprising amount of agism from quite a few of the older folks. Don't get me wrong there are lots of really nice people here, but there are quite a few miserable people here. This building has over 800 people living in it and some people like to ignore that fact. It's sad with how nice our general impression is of the building, that we have had so many problems. The front desk people are kind of crabby until they get to know you ,but that has never really bothered me.
As a renter here, I feel my $1250/mth for a 2 bedroom would be spent wiser somewhere else. After working a long day the last thing I need to deal with is someone (who should treat me like neighbor) closing the elevator door in my face as they hit "door close" a bunch of times as I try to enter the elevator behind them. It has happened multiple times. Another situation is you say hi / hello / how are you/ etc and they don't reply back, but then when another person they know comes by they are warm and friendly.
There is an indoor and outdoor pool here. In the summer we watched a lot of people bake into a odd orange color around the outside pool, yet hardly anyone would go in it. When you go down to swim they look at you like you are doing something wrong if you get in the pool.
Overall my impression is the building a great place and great value, but if you are under 50, expect other residents to disrespect you and make you feel unwelcome. I am surprised as someone raised to respect older folks, to feel that there are so many rude ones here who have never accepted us as neighbors. I look forward to taking my money else where we can be treated as the nice folks we are.
