  • I'm not a huge NBA fan, but I'm a fan of live sports in general. The thing that I think has always irked me a little about watching NBA live is that it's very difficult to get good seats - you know, seats where you can see the action no matter where they are on the court? If you sit behind a hoop it's just the most awkward experience because you see practically only half the game. Enough of my complaining though... For what it is, this arena is state of the art. I've been to a few Cavs games, and Dan Gilbert has put a ton of money into approving the arena. It definitely shows. Everytime I come, the food and drink options are better, the non-basketball entertainment is more lively, and that jumbotron is just ridiculous. (Although the fire scares me a bit every time - I've always wondered if it's a fire hazard.) My gripe about Quicken Loans, is how you have to get tickets. Yes, you can use scorebig or stub hub, but the main way to get tickets is flash seats. Owned by Mr. Gilbert, it is literally one of the only options you have to buy tickets for anything that goes on in this arena. It's considered a "marketplace" where you can bid on tickets or buy them outright. It's kind of annoying when you bid on tickets and it puts a hold on your credit card even though the website says it won't, and then you don't even win the tickets because the "marketplace" dealer has to agree on whether he wants to sell the winning bid or not. Not only that, but there's a 24% service charge to each ticket. Ridiculous. I'll try to use score big or stub hub in the future for games. This precise reason is why the arena only gets 4 stars from me instead of 5.
