This restaurant is right around the corner from my house, so given the fact that it is always so highly recommended, I don't really know why it has taken me so long to come out.
We arrived around 5 on Friday night and were seated right away.
We don't ever really do specialty rolls, preferring to stick with the nigiri options.
This trip, we kept things pretty simple, and ordered the following:
Super White
Ebi (cooked shrimp)
Amaebi (sweet shrimp/raw, with deep fried heads)
Garlic Tuna
Cajun Albacore
Fresh Scallop
Unagi, well done
Tako
Shrimp Roll (not tempura)
Mentaiko
Wasabi Crawfish
gyoza (fried and steamed)
Garlic edemame
seaweed salad
Cucumber salad
Dessert:
Black sesame mochi
Green tea creme brulee
Tempura ice cream
Yuzu sherbet.
In a word: WOW.
Really excellent quality fish. The super white and scallop just MELTED in your mouth! The wasabi crawfish was nice, with a great punch to the sinuses. The Mentaiko was surprisingly awesome. A little spicy, and really really good.
The only thing I had any issue with at all was that the deep fried shrimp heads were just a touch on the greasy side, and I couldn't see the eyes. ;) Other than that, I was extremely pleased.
Service was top notch. Polite, and timely, with only a minor delay getting dessert, but that's because they were absolutely packed, when they hadn't been 30 minutes prior.
I will absolutely be back here again.
