This is what Yelp does to me: I look for a place to snack, drink and read for an hour and instead of choosing Starbucks and it's familiarity (across the street) I headed over here to try it out so I can come back and Yelp all about it!
Here's why I'm sort of glad I came here over Starbucks:
Their selection of food is very cute looking and yummy BUT it's unlabelled and when questioned about it the guy behind the counter could have been more helpful since it was very clear as I was not having an easy time deciding what I wanted with a pretty varied bakery selection.
I ended up with a blackberry and apricot tart and I loved it. Far better than any baked pastry good Starbucks or Second Cup cooks up.
If I lived in 1 King West, I believe I would not shop for jam or salad dressing anywhere else as all of that seemed homemade specifically for Petite Thuet (correct me if I'm wrong though).
Here's why I would have preferred Starbucks over this place:
The moyen "medium" latte was around $3, smaller than a grande and not mind blowingly different from Starbucks. So a latte from Starbucks would have been more satisfying I believe.
I applaud their attempt to be all environmentally friendly as their utensils didn't seem to be plastic but corn cutlery instead, but then again I was disappointed by lack of mugs.
Why I will come here again:
To try out their coffee and macarons.
But I do hope for friendly service next time. Bottom line, come in for the food and not their drink.
