  • Closest one on the way home and my daughter loved the cycling classes a la virtual fitness on demand which we both now enjoy together. We got her a membership after Goodlife's free teen fitness over the summer and she was hooked after the wonderful experience at the new yorkmills location. As far as ambiance and vibe goes, this club is great! Even front desk staff are apologetic when they are able to provide only 1 towel during their busy hours (usually when classes are happening) and the spacious set up is welcoming to claustrophobic members like myself. With all the good things said, unfortunately not all experiences in this walk of life remain... good. Or in this case I wish to never have met a manager quite like this one in this lifetime. After my bad experience, I asked for his name and he rudely pointed to the wall about 4 feet away gladly making me feel like a 5 yr old learning my alphabets for the first time as he turned his back strutting back to his office. It was Monday Nov 21, we walked in hoping to purchase a day pass ($15+tax) for each of my nephew and niece, both 16 and 17 to try out the club before signing up. A one year membership was going to be a Christmas gift from me since the generation now seems hung up on finding pokemons and snap chatting nostrils and black screens than staying active. Since the young lady at the front desk remained clueless as to how she could accommodate us but very polite, her manager popped up from behind to sarcastically tell me that I am not able to to bring minors in the club, let alone enter the gate as it is illegal based on gym rules and liability etc etc. All this said, right at the front desk as fellow members were scannig in. He stated with no empathy that because I am not their parent, they cannot try out the club whatsoever and this is without even giving me a proper welcome, not that I need one, it's a gym not a 5 star resto for frack's sake (at least sit down and go over options) . Keep in mind, both parents of these kids lead a sedentary lifestyle and were glad I was taking charge of their children's longevity. So it is understood that I am not their parent CHECK! Cannot sign schedule A/waiver form because am not their legal guardian CHECK! Cannot pay $15 for guest fee to try out the gym CHECK(NOT EVEN ASKING FOR A FREE PASS) CHECK CHECK CHECK!!! So at this point, my pre workout was kicking in and as an adult refusing to cave in to clawing anyone's eyes out including my own in front of the kids made my way to speak with another gym associate who I noticed was asking for referrals in exchange for free gym bags near the front desk. I asked him how he could go about helping me with our situation in getting these teens signed up later that week and in the middle of our conversation, the manager huffing and puffing rushed over yelling over our voices instructing his staff that 'this is not open for discussion!!!' He accused me of trying to sneak in the teens, making his staff my accomplice... Really? This guy clearly had serious issues. I think I saw stars at one point because blacking out and walking out of there was clear enough to remind me my composure was well kept despite adrenaline rush calling me to the squat rack!!!!! Anyhow, we ended up driving to a nearby Goodlife who gave the teens a free trial for the night, after I was granted legal responsibility in signing the waiver form for minors/guest as a club member. It's a good thing we've been members for so long that one bad experience with one very bad manager like Mike will not stop me from giving these teens a chance at improving their lifestyle. People like Mike will come and go, power tripping through monthly quotas and daily expectations only to discover that one day they too will be eventually replaced by the next generation of goal driven individuals who we hope would include better people skills and a more humble approach than our current manager Mr Mike, let's hope!
