  • I'm a baseball enthusiast that tries to catch a few games each year regardless of how well the Toronto Blue Jays are performing. The Rogers Centre formerly the Skydome is an outdated place to watch baseball. It was an interesting novelty when it first opened in 1989 and the place was bustling because the Toronto Blue Jays were always in contention around that time. Now it feels like your sitting in a massive concrete block and it doesn't have that intimate feeling a baseball stadium should have (Fans should feel close to the game). Baseball is a game that is best enjoyed on a hot summer afternoon with an open sky not with a roof partially covering the sky. Hence the reason why a lot of the new stadiums that were built in the last decade have an open retro concept, trying to bring fans closer to the game. The Rogers Centre makes me miss the good ole days of Exhibition Stadium. Positives: 1. The ticket prices are reasonable in comparison to other MLB teams. 2. The location is convenient and really commuter accessible. Right in the middle of the downtown core and accessible to many other Toronto amenities. 3. The sightlines are pretty good for the majority of the seats in the stadium. Negatives: 1. The food fare is really generic. Most MLB stadiums have gone forward and tried to make their food more interesting by offering a signature dish (i.e. Miami Marlins: Grilled mahi tacos, New York Mets: Pat LaFrieda steak sandwich). They opened the Muddy York Market on the 100 level which tries to show Toronto's diversity by offering different fares but the food is just average and nothing special. 2. Alcohol is expensive, part of watching a baseball games on a hot summer afternoon is drinking a few cold beers but it shouldn't cost you an arm and an leg. 3. The seating is really cramped.
