| - I've been to the Toronto Christmas Market twice now in the last two years. This year, they charge $5 for entrance on Saturdays and Sundays due to overwhelming volumes during peak times.
They have booths/vendors that sell meat pies ($24), sweets, Christmas knick knacks/gifts, and mulled wine and apple cider (~$8) with a kick. If you've been to the Distillery District before, you would be familiar with the various restaurants around, including French-inspired Cluny, El Catrin for Mexican fare, and several breweries/pubs for your enjoyment. Keep in mind that you should probably try to make reservations (if possible) before going to these restaurants; otherwise, be prepared to wait in line for at least 30-60 minutes for dinner. There are usually lineups at lunch time too.
There are tons of stores and vendors around if you're interested in shopping or window shopping or simply enjoying the Christmas decorations (particularly the famous selfie tree, which is what I like to call it). Many people bring their selfie sticks at this event.
Best time to go would be in the evening when the holiday lights are shining and you can enjoy a warm cup of mulled wine, apple cider or hot chocolate. Don't forget to check out Soma (chocolate factory) and pick up a cup of liquid chocolate or some hazelnut cookies as a stocking stuffer! If you're hungry but don't feel like waiting in line at a restaurant, pick up a beer and a giant turkey leg from Mill Street Brewery's outdoor vendor booth ($13).
It's a great place to go on a date, with family, with friends. After coming here twice, I think I'd probably return only once every two years or once per year. There's not much of a difference each year, and as others have mentioned, parking is annoying. You can park underground as well. The cost is at least $8 for a couple of hours (I think $2 every half hour?).
TIP: Be prepared to spend a bit when you come here. I think between two of us, we spent about $80 in less than two hours, including parking, food, drinks, cookies from Soma, and entrance fee.
