From greeting to goodbye, this was a superb dining experience. I was able to make a reservation using Open Table. A friendly Tarbell's caller confirmed the reservation on the day we were scheduled. I told them we were celebrating a wedding anniversary, though we did not want a fuss and we rarely eat dessert, so I wasn't asking for anything. We were greeted with a sincere "Happy Anniversary". Our server was relaxed and well informed. I told her that I avoid gluten, and she immediately knew how to advise me with the menu. We started with wine by the glass. I had a light pinot Grigio and my husband had the Malbec. Both were just fine. We then ordered, sharing a Caesar salad for a starter. It was romaine and kale, an interesting variation of the traditional Caesar. We didn't have to ask for no croutons. I ordered the mussels and my husband ordered a steak and buttermilk mashed potatoes. After we finished the plated shared salad, our server surprised us with two magnificent appetizers. She took it upon herself to choose appetizers for us because I told the confirmer that we don't eat many desserts. The mozzarella and tomato salad and the sweet bacon with cabbage were outstanding! Our main dishes were perfectly prepared. Servings were huge. The potatoes were exceptionally good. I finished with an illy espresso, as good as I have ever had. This was one of the best, most unique dining experiences we have had. I can't wait to return.
