| - This place epitomizes good, but not great. Don't misunderstand, I recommend checking it out and for the price my complaints are minimal.
I've been to HCAE a couple times with my wife. It's a small unassuming establishment with Old Vegas decor and vibe; very diner-esque. The menu is simple classic American, hence the name.
The service has been good, not great. It seems to be service by committee so you catch a variety of personalities through the dining experience. The food, also good (not great). I enjoyed my egg sandwich with bacon and side of sausage, my wife was less thrilled with the french dip, but she ate most of it. Our bill came out to less than twenty dollars, which seemed very reasonable for the overall quality of the experience.
It's not Hash House, but it beats the hell out of Denny's or IHOP, all day. We will be back, but it's not a once-a-week must have.
