  • OneGuard will only accept the opinion of their own contracted repair companies. Independent third party evaluations are not permitted. Denial of a pool heater claim was deemed "unusual wear and tear" and "chemical build-up". The unit is 14 years old, which was not reported to OneGuard by Green Pools technician. The denial of the claim is based upon the assumption the current home-owner is the one to blame for the previous owners lack of maintenance. I purchased the home warranty with just that scenario in mind; older unit and judging by the condition and discoloring of the plaster, possible hidden corrosion or other potential problems created by the previous Home owner. Even though I completely drained my pool and started fresh, it's all my fault. I singlehandedly ruined my own heating unit in 2 1/2 years, due to improper chemical usage. I made a request for a formal Denial Of Coverage letter. OneGuard said it would take 30 days for such a letter to be generated; reason given- the letters are issued and mailed in the order they are requested. This indicates they have so many denial letters which need to be issued to others, it will take 30 days to issue my letter. Bottom line; after further research I see a common theme amongst all the complaints, "denial of coverage due to abnormal wear and tear". The relationship between OneGuard and their approved service and repair contractors is suspect, at best...with indications of full collusion. My research into their corrupt practices has just begun. I complaint filed with the AZ Department of Insurance will be filed, just as soon as OneGuard has time to issue my Letter of Coverage Denial, as I need to include the letter with my complaint. Seemingly, OneGuard relies on verbal Coverage denials which are relayed to the policyholder through the service company. The contracted service company is the claims adjuster. This is not standard claims handling practice in the insurance industry. OneGuard is very OneSided. Judging by other user comments, OneGuard has many more unsatisfied policyholders, then satisfied ones. Very disappointing to see a Phoenix based company not looking after the best interest of their customer. On the contrary, denying claims to premium paying policyholders who have good intentions. I hope the COO of this company can sleep at night with the knowledge of so many disappointed customers. I mean, just read the reviews; one review after another of dissatisfied policyholders. If my business reviews read like theirs, I'd be fired from my job. If the Aviation Insurance Claims departments I work with everyday handled claims in the same manner as OneGuard, I'd have no clients and all aviation insurance underwriters would be out of business. Oh, and did anyone notice in the policy there is verbiage that says: any threat made to an employee of OneGuard is basis for policy cancellation at the election of OneGuard?? I have never seen that cancellation clause in any other insurance policy... ever. This means, OneGuard has so many irate and angry customers, they need to put a clause in their policy which basically says: shut-up. We've heard enough out of you. Claim denied. You now have become a pain in our side, therefore, we can tell you to go away. OneGuard=OneSided.
