I used to have a soft spot for the cheesy decor and theme of Pravda but this love has died much like the novelty of the club.
Pravda used to have the advantage that it was less pretentious than other clubs, and boasted a pretty broad, and reasonably priced vodka list.
What was really disappointing was to see people being made to wait in a lineup for over 30 mins (girls and guys alike) on one of the coldest nights in Toronto while the club was relatively empty. Our group only stuck around because we wanted to show the place to an overseas guest who was a Vodka enthusiast, but the experience left him with a very sour taste of Toronto nightlife scene. As we waited in line, we saw many people bribe the bouncers to get into an establishment with no apparent cover, and we even overheard the bouncers and managers ridiculing a group who opened their wallet but could not sum up enough $ to get in!! It's really a disgrace to see the cold weather being used as a means of extortion. I'd rather drink bathtub vodka than contribute to the success of this joint.
