| - This is a super (in quality) Costco! Compared to other Costco Stores in Las Vegas and elsewhere, it's much less crowded and you seldom have to wait more than 5 minutes in line. They also offer many organic products (like meats, fruits and vegetables, and free range eggs).
The Costco brand (a.k.a. Kirkland) is of very high quality and saves customers lots of money. In fact, many Kirkland-branded products are simply name-brand products repackaged with the Costco name. Some of these are name-brands sitting right next to the actual name-brand product.
In the Food Court, pizzas are delicious, extremely filling, and amazingly inexpensive ($10 for a very large pie). The smoothies, hot dogs/Polish dogs, and chicken bake are family favorites. Most of their menu, however, is very high in calories (mainly because it is ample in size). They offer churros, frappes, frozen yogurt, chicken salads, and pulled beef sandwiches. As a vegetarian, I'm limited to eating only their pizzas and desserts and the pizza varieties include only cheese, pepperoni, all mixed veggies, all mixed meats, or everything. The Food Court is not intended to be a restaurant where you can pick-and-choose your ingredients. Almost everything is pre-made so it reaches customers fast and hot. The only bad thing is Costco's change from Coke to Pepsi products. [Costco Managers: Please bring back Coke and those ice cream bars covered in chocolate and almonds!]
The only thing that sucks is ignorant customers who leave their carts in the middle of the aisles and those who go backwards on the loop. Pretend this is Ikea and plan to go in only one direction!
Tips:
--Call the food court to order a pizza when you arrive to shop (I usually call from the car). You can then pay for the pizza when you check out at the regular register so you don't have to stand in the Food Court line and pick-up your pizza immediately.
--Buying in bulk saves you money only if you use everything you buy. Their fresh fruit and vegetables wonderful, but it's hard to eat entire packages before the food goes bad. Try to shop with a friend (and help out a non-Costco member) so you can split each container in half.
--Their bakery items freeze really well. Buy the bread (I usually buy the freshly-baked tortas), separate them into smaller packages and freeze each of the packages. I can take out two tortas at a time so the others still taste great (and mold-free) when I thaw them from the freezer.
--Use Ibotta. Many of the products you normally buy are on Ibotta so you can get money back for your normal grocery shopping. I've been able to get cash back through Ibotta by simply scanning my Costco receipt or proving I've purchased eggs or milk.
--Watch for sales! Costco often has sales on common items like trash bags and paper towels. Buy these when they're on sale to save $2-$10 per item. I wait until they're on sale to buy Ziplock bags and Crest Whitening Strips. If you remain flexible on when you need items like luggage or pantry items, you can save yourself a lot of money.
--Go on weekends, afternoons, or evenings because there are lots of available foods to sample at those times.
