| - I've been a member at several gyms throughout my life and Toronto Athletic Club is definitely as good as it gets in terms of gym experience.
After 3 years at the Club I am sadly leaving as I am relocating to the US for work. I will miss it.
The club has tons of elements in it's favour and in my mind only one drawback, so I'll start there. There are a bunch of reciprocal club agreements throughout North America, but the list could be developed further and the process to access those reciprocal clubs could be less cumbersome. So if you're on the road a lot, you will probably need a complement to your Toronto Athletic Club membership.
Now onto the great parts of the club:
* Very warm, friendly and professional staff throughout the club - this is a very strong contrast to most gyms in town employing a bunch of 18-year old kids that don't care about very much.
* Central location if you work on Bay Street, connected to the Path
* ONLY facility around with gym floor, squash court, broad range of classes, pool, sports medicine clinic and restaurant
* High quality equipment and constant upgrade of facilities
* Killer view on the city (gym on top floor of one of the TD building)
* Very knowledgeable trainers, class instructors and squash coaches
* Great atmosphere: ever since the renovation of the restaurant, there has been more of a club feeling to it where people hang around have a drink or a (very good) bite to eat. Fellow gym goers are friendly and you end up knowing all frequent gym goers / squash players
* Fairly priced laundry service and personal locker (go to the gym every day without ever caring a bag around....)
To conclude, if you are serious about exercising, this place is worth every penny!
