| - Per yelp's 3-star review standard Stein Mart really is A-OK. It fits in with many similarly themed stores: TJ Maxx, Home Goods, Ross, Marshall's. Basically places that get unsold hand-me-downs from department store clearance racks. They then slash the prices considerably and sell them for a price that is often still too high in my opinion. It is what it is though.
Generally speaking, the quality turns out to be okay on things here. There are lots of clothes - making up more than half of the store. They have a big shoe section too. Most clothes are for women and what they do have for men seems to target an older/more conservative/upstanding class. The guys who at least want to look like they drive a Benz and own a yacht. This results in some fairly gaudy styles IMO. I did manage to scrounge up a decent pair of dressy business casual shoes on my recent visit though.
Other items include housewares, blankets, sheets and linens, wallets, jewelry, dishes, pet stuff (mostly for dogs), furniture and interior décor. And much, much more. Prices, as I said, are a bit high for the stuff in my opinion. But I guess it's still a deal. Good place to come for a gift. Service is not always with a smile, but I can't complain.
