| - Since becoming pregnant my skin has been super temperamental: oily, flaky, blemishes/clogged pores. Desperate for a remedy I decided to give a facial a try.
I don't normally get facials on a regular basis, though I have in the past had facials at places like Stillwater, Elmwood, etc. Not being able to partake in the hot tubs/saunas/baths that many of the spas in the area offer as part of their facial packages I looked for a place that offered just facials (i.e., without having to pay the premium to access the other spa amenities), and that also used fairly natural/basic products, and came across Pure+Simple.
I opted for the "Extreme Clean Deep Pore Facial", which as a bonus happened to be their special for the month ($85, regular $99).
The facial was performed by Lily and far exceeded my expectations. Yes, there was a lot of massaging (arms, legs, face, scalp, upper back) but I found it soooo relaxing. She also spent what seemed like 10 minutes doing extractions, which I was pleased with as I really needed them! All the products felt gentle yet effective on my skin and smelled pleasant. The facial lasted a full hour and 15 minutes.
Following the facial Lily suggested some products that might address some of the issues I have been having with my preggo skin, but there was definitely no pressure to buy. I did end up buying a bottle of the Balancing Kapha Face Oil, which counter-intuitively smooths out flaky patches without making the skin oily (TIP: if you use Foursquare there is a special for your first check-in at P+S that gives you 50% off of any P+S product!).
I left feeling a little oilier all over than I was expecting but my skin looked fantastic. The BEST part is my skin has stayed clear and smooth for the past week since I had the facial. This was a big win for me as my face has been breaking out nearly daily since becoming pregnant and before pregnancy I found my skin would break out in the days following a facial even when the esthetician used supposedly "gentle/sensitive skin" products.
The only negative I would give this place is the stomping footstep background noise that another reviewer noted. In my case it was short-lived so didn't bother me too much.
Will definitely return the next time my face needs a "fix".
