The poutine is legit. It's owned and run by an actual Quebecer, who has other restaurants in Montreal. Prices are reasonable considering the portion size, and the fact that you're actually getting real poutine.
It's truly a strange venue. It's somewhat hidden because it resides in the former theatre behind Future's Bakery.
As a result, the store signs are much higher up than normal, and there is strange fencing on either side of the entrance which gives the wrong impression of what's inside.
When you finally get near the door, it's still a bit strange. As you are immediately faced with a long bar. Only further down does the place open up and become a sit down restaurant.
Adding to the confusion are the multiple menus. There are standard fold out menus, but also sheets of paper + pencils for custom poutine orders.
On a saturday night, the place was lively. Music was pumping (enough to bother those who are sensitive), and the corresponding music video was playing on mounted flat screens. The bar was surprisingly full with about 20-30 people mulling around.
I suggest that you ignore the mixed messaging and simplify.
This is a strong consideration if you're looking for a quality poutine. The newly renovated venue is a nice bonus. There are few poutine joints in the city where you can actually sit and enjoy your meal with a group of friends.
