| - Tried this place for the first time as it came recommended to me online. A brief look at the menu and the name China Chili piqued my interest as it may be a Chinese eatery with an emphasis on spice. I'm a full blown Chili addict and a fiend for spicy dishes so I figured I'd give it a shot.
Place was nice and clean, had a very well established vibe, and quite a few locals and staff were eating when I popped in. I tried two dishes and had the egg rolls as an opener. None of what I ordered was spicy, even though the menu *indicated that they were. This is not something that I fault them for, since anymore it seems like no one in the valley is actually from here. All snowbirds and transplants from middle American-wherever, who likely piss and pad about their food being "too spicy". Perhaps I should have emphasized to make the dishes extra spicy. I've had this experience in the past with what are now some of my favorite places, and had to tell them YES I am absolutely sure I want it extra spicy, or Thai hot or whatever. Next time, I'll be sure to ask.
With that being said, while the dishes weren't spiced to my liking, they were absolutely fresh and very delicious and a healthy dose of chili sauce made up for it. House special chicken was fantastic and a definite highlight. Thinly sliced white meat chicken, with a crisp outer layer and a savory brown sauce. Would definitely order again. The food was delicious and the staff was great. When I'm in the midtown central area in the future, I'll be sure to stop in again.
